That is a brilliant idea. Web cams are unobtrusive and do not disturb the animals. Animals are clever, but no panda or polar bear has ever pointed to a camera placed in its enclosure and complained about invasion of privacy. Providing a global audience fee based, high-def, 24hr observation of popular zoo creatures would generate millions of dollars for each zoo to defray operating costs. For example, children worldwide are enthralled by and love to marvel at Giant Pandas.
Why don't zoos provide, for a daily fee, live high-def web video of popular animals like Pandas %26 Polar Bears?internet
second answer is right but what about snakes and reptiles?
Why don't zoos provide, for a daily fee, live high-def web video of popular animals like Pandas %26 Polar Bears?network
well think about it would u wanna be watched 24/7 and if u are the owner would u wanna spend like halfa million dollars for cameras %26 televisions
if they had a web video everybody would watch it rather than paying to go to the zoo itself.
Many zoos and aquariums have webcams from their exhibits on their webpage.
Every one I have ever looked at was free... as far as high def, you have to remember that most zoos are non-profit and something like high-def can be very expensive. I am sure if they found a sponsor they could do it, but just a normal run of the mill... what they do works.
EDIT: I would like to remind everyone who thinks they should do that instead of allowing people to visit and bother the animals. NOT everyone out there has access to a computer.
A lot of money goes into constant surveillance for every animal, and most zoos are privately owned. I'd rather see funds go to enriching the animal than unnecessary techie stuff. Plus, that gets rid of the whole ''zoo experience''
Who would wanna watch that 24/7, maybe the bears and pandas want some privacy since they are near extinction and need some time to procreate without prying eyes.
