I have to wonder about your fascination w/ Pandas? Maybe its their simplicity, the black and white color, the robust form, or its innocent relaxing attitude. When Pandas are extinct I know you will miss them but it wont happen in your lifetime. China will miss their #1 mascot and will have to find another one. Mankind will add another beautiful animal to our list of casualties and greed. Children will learn about them in textbooks the way we do about do do birds and wonder why and what they looked like in real life. On the day the last one dies I believe many people will be ashamed knowing they all contributed in some way to their demise

I live in South Africa and have never seen a giant panda (up close), to Africa it won't mean anything. to the people in Asia it might have a big influence. It depends what impact pandas make on the environment around them.
Nothing will happen. They will be gone, people will likely be very mad, but nothing else of importance will occur. There will not be a big shift in the planet or anything.
